Awesome FT Island Concert 2012. Play!
And so I enjoy, play and have great fun @ FT Island Concert on 15 Jan 2012. You know, words ain’t enough to describe how I feel but I will try to give a comprehensive review of the concert / the band which is duper awesome!
Though the duration of the concert is short, only 2 hours (6.15pm – 8.15pm), I have enjoyed every single moments of it. There are no dull moments at all. Yeah. Not to say that most of the songs that I am hoping to listen to before the concert, are being chosen by the band. So I am pretty satifised with the setlist even though there are still lots of songs which I wish could have been chosen. Oh well. Blame it on the shortage of time. Heh.

The concert started with the song ‘I Hope’ and it immediately gets everyone on high. Especially when Hongki extends his microphone to us and we sing ‘Barae’ loudly. The 2nd song ‘Bing Bing Bing’ is catergorised as ‘it’s twisting time’ by Hongki. Whenever he sings this song, he will request everyone to twist and turn with him. And Hongki can really twist very well! Sexy butt lei…! Heh!
When the opening of the 5th song ‘I Will Get You’ begins, I nearly scream as this is one of the song which I would very much love to hear it live. I term this song as the ‘Drunkard Song’ because Hongki will sing as if he’s drunk, with actions and all. It’s very intriguing. A good vocal is needed to complete this performance. Indeed, Hongki’s live for this song is really good.
Then, comes the 7th song ‘Life’. I do not carry high hopes that this song will be performed because this is a rather new song and it’s Japanese. I think Korean songs are more preferred than Japanese ones in most places, though I love both. So when Seunghyun says ‘Next song is Life’, I scream. Lol! It’s one of my favourite Japanese song by them! OMG. It’s really Yoo Hoo~~~~
The next 2 Japanese songs ‘I Want’ and ‘Let It Go’ are also one of my favourites. Before starting on ‘Let It Go’, Hongki says ‘Do you have towel? Let’s high!’ Arrrrrr…..his english is so cute!!!! I love the part in ‘Let It Go’ when Hongki sings ‘Konomama…’ shaking his head and body, with Jonghoon playing the guitar and shaking his head opposite of Hongki. It’s duper cool and rock sia….!
The 10th song ‘Flower Rock’ is a MUST sing song in all FT Island concerts because it is a super crazy and high song! During the interlude of this song, the music stops. Hongki asks everyone to sit and we sit. But the pen people have no seats so they continue to stand. Hongki looks at them, raise his hands, says ‘sit~~~’, does the ‘sitting down’ action and he squats. OMG. He’s so cute trying to communicate using his body language!
When everyone sits/squats down, he says ‘Let’s jump together, OK~~~~?’ Again. So cute! I love the way he says ‘OK~~~?’ He then continues to sing ‘Everybody hands up’. When he sings ‘hands up’, everyone jump together with the band. I am really loving this moment! I have always watch this in his concert DVD and now, I am personally experiencing it.
His super good stamina also always amaze me because his voice can be so stable, does not sound out of breathe and what’s not even when he runs, shake and jump while he is singing. A true rocker indeed! Heh. Almost comparable to Hyde already. ^^
And so this segment ended and the acoustic segment begins with all members sitting on high chairs, Seunghyun, Jaejin and Jonghoon with guitars (refer to photo above). During this segment, ‘Sunshine Girl’ and ‘I Confess’ are sang. It’s very nice when we sing ‘You are my sunshine girl, you are my shining girl~~~’ with Hongki.
I personally love ‘I Confess’ alot. It’s a quiet moment with them, with the soothing music, and every member gets to sing a portion of the song. And Hongki’s great vocal is shown through this acoustic segment. :)
After this segment, it’s Korean oldies time which is 1 of my ‘most like’ segment. I love the way the oldies are re-made into rock version and how Hongki expresses himself in these songs. Way to cool and way to good. I am waiting for him to sing ‘The Person At Shinsadong’ and how excited I am when the music begins! Hearing the live of this is really too touching, so much more than hearing it through TV. Especially the interlude part with the guitar solo by Jonghoon, followed by Hongki’s powerful burst with him stamping his foot on the floor. Omo….. love it to bits.
Before my excitement for ‘The Person At Shinsadong’ dies, the next song got me all excited again which is ‘Loving It All’! It’s the super rock song which FT Island performed in ‘Immortal Song 2′ which I love so much yet I never thought it will be sang in this concert at all! It’s so much so much so much amazing than what I heard in Immortal Song 2. Throughout the whole song, I am practically singing along and shaking/nodding my head. The music is really great!!!
After a few more songs, it’s encore time. Everyone is shouting for them to come out and the atmosphere is really high. The first song following the encore is ‘Love Sick’ which is their debut song. I never really like this song or dislike this song, just thought that it’s a nice song and the feeling is neutral. Yet, hearing the live of this is a totally different feeling because of the emotions which can be felt from Hongki’s way of singing it. And so I fell in love with this song after the concert.
When ‘Love Sick’ begins, I am thinking ‘eh..why no ‘Bad Woman’ today. I am really looking forward to hear this, you know. So when Hongki says ‘You Know Bad Girl’, I and many others scream ‘YESSSSsssss’. Another cute thing is, Hongki says ‘Bad Girl’ and not ‘Bad Woman’. Waaaa…. so cute!!! Heh. Then, Hongki says ‘ok, let’s sing together’. Wow. It’s really like a mass KTV with everyone singing along. I think the band looks so happy when they hear us.
The last song is ‘Like The Birds’, a happy song to end the concert. And Hongki is running around the stage with his hands spread out flying like a bird. He’s so energetic! I remember Jaejin finally walks out and stand in front of the stage right in front of me. He looks at my direction and smile. Somehow, it’s like smiling at me but I know is not la. But the direction is just right. And he looks so sweet with his smile. I am like ‘oooooooohhhhh… so sweet!’. I also remember Hongki pointing his finger towards the audiences while singing, and he somehow also pointed directly at me. Wahahaha.
The concert ended with thanks and there… it’s over. I know I am gonna miss the band lots and will have many days of withdrawal symptoms from this concert. It’s one of the best concert I have attended. Great music, great band, great vocal and great atmosphere. It’s so cute how the band trys to communicate only in English to us. Love them to bits. ^^
